Choosing your perfect wedding dress is a big deal and we know that it can be daunting and overwhelming as well as exciting. The following FAQ’s are here to help put your mind at ease and allow you to fully enjoy your appointment with us...
What is the price range of your collections?
Our dresses start from £975 and go up to £3240.
What sample sizes do you carry?
Generally our sample dresses are in sizes 10, 12 or 14. We will pin and adjust the dresses to your body to ensure the closest fit possible.
When should I start looking for my wedding dress?
Some of our brides find their perfect dress with us straight away and do not wish to look anywhere else. Others like to visit a few other boutiques and therefore, more time is needed in the decision-making process. Ideally you want to be starting to dress shop 12-18 months before the big day. We recommend booking your appointment as soon as you have set the date for your wedding and booked your wedding venue, as this will give you plenty of time to find your perfect dress and have it fitted perfectly to you.
How do I make an appointment?
You can make an appointment by either filling in our form on the Appointments page or by giving us a call (0115 984 3576).
Do you charge for your appointments?
We do not charge for our appointments, but we do kindly ask that if you are unable to make your appointment please be courteous and let us know as soon as possible. This will allow us time to offer the appointment to another bride.
What underwear should I wear for my appointment?
It is helpful to wear nude, seamless underwear. A strapless bra is essential if you are not comfortable going bra less for the appointment. Bring a hair clip with you so that you can pop up your hair, most of our dresses have beautiful backs that you want to show off. Please also ensure that you do not wear fake tan and that you keep your makeup to a minimum to ensure that our dresses are kept as beautiful as possible for all of our brides.
Who should I bring to my appointment with me?
We do understand this is not only an important occasion for you but also for your nearest and dearest. However, as our boutique is rather intimate and seating space for guests is limited during appointments, we kindly request that you bring no more than 2-3 guests with you. This also works in your favor, the people you bring should be the people who know you best, who’s opinions you trust. It will make your experience far more enjoyable, remember it’s your opinion that truly counts, too many loved ones giving their opinion can be confusing and often unhelpful. This brings us on to little ones. If you are unable to find a sitter and you do bring children with you, we just request that you have someone with you to look after them. We want to devote our entire attention to looking after you and it is important that you don’t feel confused or distracted from your mission to find the perfect dress!
When should I be placing my order with Shade Bridal Boutique?
Ideally we suggest that you order your dress 6-8 months in advance of your wedding date, this allows a ‘comfortable’ time frame in which your dress will be made to order and for fitting appointments to be carried out after your dress has arrived to ensure that it is a perfect fit for your Wedding day.
What if I am on a tight timescale?
Don’t worry we also have sample dresses that can be bought off the rail and adjusted to fit you to perfection. In some cases we can request rush orders at an additional cost. Please give us a call.
What happens in regards to fittings and alterations?
Once you have said ‘yes to the dress’ we will take your measurements and order the size closest. Once we receive your dress it will need to be altered to fit perfectly. Fitting appointments will be arranged with our seamstress in the boutique approx 8 weeks before your wedding date. Once you are happy with everything we hand your dress over to you, ready for your big day!
Can I come in to browse your accessories?
Even if you have bought your dress elsewhere, you are more than welcome to come along for an Accessories Appointment. Please state accessories appointment when filling out the form/calling the boutique.
