On a very rainy day, though you wouldn't know it looking at these photos, our bride Grace married Andrew at the very elegant Stapleford Park in Leicestershire.

Grace looked stunning in her bridal separates from Watters.
We added the bow at her back using the same fabric of the dusky pink tulle skirt.
We also made her veil to match too, making hers an almost bespoke ensemble.
We had nothing to do with her shoes though...Christian Louboutin is just a little beyond our reach!

Grace's flowers were by Sophie's Flowers and the photography by Kimberley Hill.

Amy was married at the stylish wedding venue Swancar Farm in Nottinghamshire.
Her look was of simple elegance and no fuss and that is exactly what she achieved.
She chose the Sari dress from the Wendy Makin Ready to Wear collection. This strapless dress with a neatly fitted lace bodice a draping georgette skirting is timeless.
Amy's veil came from Richard Designs and complimented her dress perfectly.

Selecting New Designs for our future Brides

Our busy year at Shade Bridal has definite seasonal happenings. From our busiest first few months of the year with new bridal orders being made, to fittings in the weeks before a bride's wedding day, to working on styled shoots for magazines, to attending wedding fairs in the spring and autumn, one of the highlights is certainly when we go to the international trade show to meet the designers and view their new collections.
It's always a pleasure to catch up with the designers themselves, the models showing off the dresses for us to see, fellow boutique owners, even the press! It's a busy time, a hugely important time too in deciding what designs we will buy in for our brides.
At Shade Bridal we specialise in relaxed and romantic styles. We're not very blingy or princessy!

Watters new style which will be arriving in the UK in March 2018

We see the lovely people from Watters twice a year as they have a spring and autumn collection. We love their styling. It's modern with a nod to a romantic past. The dresses are beautifully made and every bride who wears them says they feel fantastic.

Brand new from the French Collection by Wendy Makin, due in the UK in December 2017

Brand new from the French Collection by Wendy Makin, due in the UK in December 2017

Wendy Makin and her team, including husband Geoff, fly over from Australia every September and we now consider them to be friends as well as work colleagues. Wendy's collections suit us with their elegance and ease. Romantic comes into it again, with a smattering of boho in her French Collection, and downright showstoppers with her Couture dresses.

Windsor Bridal Jewellery belt

And not forgetting some gorgeous bridal accessories. We choose these nearly all year round with keeping our dress styles and our lovely brides to be firmly in mind.

Carriage Hall, Plumtree Wedding Fair Sunday 19th November 2017

This will be our last wedding fair of 2017. It's been a busy year!
The Carriage Hall in Plumtree, Nottinghamshire is a more modern venue than most that we attend. It has a certain chic styling that looks clean and unfussy.
Recently added to the grounds are some lovely carriages on wheels where guests can stay the night. Super cosy, and with meals at Perkins Restaurant also in the grounds, it makes for a lovely place for a wedding.

Norwood Park, Nottinghamshire Wedding Fair Sunday 15th October 2017

Norwood Park near Southwell in Nottinghamshire is a truly lovely wedding venue. The house, not too grand, not too small, is set in beautiful parkland with a long drive through trees.
The house has a long gallery room with murals adorning the walls and a painted sky on the ceiling. A great setting for a wedding breakfast.
We show here twice a year because it's such a lovely place to be!

Prestwold Hall, Leicestershire Wedding Fair Sunday 8th October 2017

One of our favourite wedding venues, Prestwold Hall in Leicestershire is a grand baronial style stately home set in beautiful grounds.
A short walk down the drive is the pretty church where weddings can take place before guests move into the hall itself. The look is perfect for a bride and groom who wants a shabby-chic baroque styled wedding.
We show here twice a year we love it so much!

Calke Abbey Riding School Wedding Fair Sunday 24th September 2017

This will be our first show at the wonderfully eclectic riding school at Calke Abbey.
It's a fabulously quirky venue that creates a very special background to weddings that are relaxed, a little boho and fun.
We love to try new venues to show our dresses, meet suppliers we might not already know,
and meet some lovely new brides to be.

Olivia and Jay were married at the West Mill, Derby, a stunning old mill converted to one of the most popular wedding venues in the East Midlands.

The style of the day was relaxed, full of flowers and fun...of course.
Olivia wore the Eleanor dress from the French Collection in champagne and ivory, with a long plain veil and a fine silver hair vine in her hair.

The Bridal Show, Harrogate Sunday 10th September 2017

On Sunday 10th September we are off to the beautiful spa town of Harrogate in Yorkshire.
As usual we are feeling very excited! The show is one of the largest trade shows in Europe where the designers of those beautiful wedding dresses (and more) come along to show off their brand new designs. We will be there to meet with the Watters team; Wendy Makin, who comes over from her home town of Brisbane, Australia; Richard Designs and The Empty Box Company!
Choosing the gowns we will be bringing into the boutique isn't always easy but we do our best!

Ali chose to create her own bridal look with separates from two different designers. They made a great combination giving her an understated and easy to wear finish.
Her skirt, from Linea Raffaelli, was in soft georgette with a small train. The top she chose from Watters had a little sparkle on sheer tulle with an oyster colour silk satin beneath.

Walled Garden Wedding Fair September 17th 2017

The Walled Garden at Beeston Fields in Nottingham is one of our favourite venues. The pretty garden was once the kitchen garden for the main house and is now a gorgeous setting for a relaxed wedding.
We love to meet the brides-to-be who venture into the big marquee at the wedding fairs we attend. Always a cheerful place to be!
Our next fair is on Sunday 17th September. Run by Buckinghams Wedding Magazine, it promises to be a day of discovery with old friends and new.

Florida was the destination for Monika's December wedding. A guarantee of sunshine and blue skies for her and David who eloped and were married in an unfussy and very private ceremony.

Monika looked amazing in her Linea Raffaelli wedding dress. She wanted simple lines and a touch of glamour which came with her jewelled belt from Windsor Bridal Jewellery, her veil from Richard Designs and her jewellery from Linea Raffaelli. Her Jimmy Choos were the final addition.

Emilie was married near her home town of Bristol and she had sunshine all day for her April wedding.
She wore the lovely Eleanor gown from the French Collection. It's soft ivory tulle and lace over a gentle champagne silk satin beneath was perfect for Emilie's and Gio's country wedding.
Her veil from Richard Designs was a perfect compliment to her dress, and together they created a romantic and understated style.

Our Favourite Dress for the Autumn

We can't resist a wedding dress with a bit of glamour.
Watters' sublime Dame dress is glamour all over. She has no 'bling'...she doesn't need it.
The very special silk lace is ivory, laid over a soft oyster silk charmeurse lining.
She has a sheer back with a simple close-set line of pearl buttons, nothing more, nothing less.
Her style is a soft fit and flare, an easy to wear shape that is both romantic and a little sexy at the same time.

Dame is a bridal gown with a bit of drama, of sophistication and sheer style.

Styled Photo Shoot, Boho Botanical

It's always such an honour to be asked to take part in photo shoots. This one was for photographer Magda Kuzmik and we were part of a team that created the boho botanical look she wanted. The venue was Kedleston House Hotel in Derbyshire. The dresses we chose were the dreamy Azriel from Watters and the romantic Yvonne from The French Collection. Hair was beautifully styled by Amie at Mon Amie Wedding Hair
Make up expertly done as always by Adele Coxon
The gorgeous flowers and flower crown were by Sarah at Mrs Umbels
And featured now on Rock My Wedding!

The Azriel dress from Watters has a soft and dreamy look. It is worn here in the mocha and ivory colourway. Azriel comes all ivory too.

Felicity and Tim were married at the very beautiful
Sutton Bonington Hall, Leicestershire. They had a sunny summer day in a very English country house setting.
The dress that Felicity chose was Irene from Wendy Makin's Ready to Wear collection. An elegant A-line ivory dress, Irene has small capped sleeves in the corded lace of the bodice. The flowing skirt is made with a light weight georgette that gives this dress a gentle drape.
Felicity chose a beaded belt and a veil to complete her look for the day.

Our bride Jen was married at Swancar Farm, Nottinghamshire and she wanted a clean elegance about her dress. She chose the gorgeous Judith gown from Watters. It's a classic A-line style with a neat waist-line band that trims in the waist beautifully. The fabric is very different than the norm in bridal. A stunning pale ivory solid lace with a rose and leaf design. And Judith has pockets too.

Emma had a small and joyous wedding at The Manner's Arms, Leicestershire. She chose a dress that went perfectly with her easy style and relaxed celebration.
Her dress came off our sale rail...always a bonus for a bride on a budget! It's pleated skirt and no train worked so well for Emma's plans. Simple, stylish and easy to wear.

Holly and Nick were married at Hazel Gap Barn in Nottinghamshire on a slightly blustery day but as their photos show, they still had an amazing day.
Holly wore a dress with simple lines, all ivory with an open back. Her veil and floral crown added a touch of romance to the look.
